Default Jack Douglass Yenko(shor)

I have rec. a few emails and priv. messages about my car and it's current resto. I guess all the publicity recently.( It is not for sale, I really do like this car alot, although everthing does have a price)
It is in excellent hands awaiting final assembly in Latrobe.
The original plan called for Brian to detail the engine and engine bay, and leave the rest of the car in it's "unrestored" state.
Then when you get to his shop and see his work you want to just restore the whole thing!
Here are some pic's( three different links)

It looks like another Jack Douglass Yenko has been found. Another Daytona Yellow m21,9561, 9737, endura, chambered and amfm with trim pkg. 649233. The one right before mine. Some real good documentation too, including vintage photos from 69/70. Stay tuned for some posts from Clint.

Chris or Clint, Does this car have the stripe treatment in the vintage photos? Is their a Yenko window sticker in the documents?

After very close inspection of the photos, the car was not given the Yenko stripe treatment nor did I get any Yenko documentation with the car. The pictures were taken by the second owner in 1971. I do have the complete owner history which takes the car back to Chicago. I wish that I had more. I will have to take a photo of a photo with my digital camera. As soon as I do, I will post it.

Shor,
I just thought it was a neat aside that when Jack and I were finished looking at the L-78 ,M21, Curved Neck radiator, BV code rear, factory spoiler, no gauge or console, AM/FM Blue light ,Code 76 76 ,X66 trim all drivetrain numbers matching 1969 Camaro Coupe, that he was heading over to see Mr. Ed. formerly of Fencil Tufo.

I started to show Jack an advertisement Under Hi-Performance car for sale section ,of the 1968 Chicago Tribune classifieds, which Chris Shrenka brought to the 2002 reunion and gave to me. The Douglass Chevy adv. is listed first, then Mr. Norms/Grand Spaulding Dodge and then Mr Ed's/Briganse Chevrolet.

Jack had not seen one of the advs. in over 20 years but was able to recite his original Dealerships Phone Number from over 20 years ago.

Chris S.he also mentioned a special thanks to you, for digging up the info and sharing it with all of us.

I can't wait to see what Mr. Ed has to say?

Rick,
Jack has been brokering cars for years and knows that I favor Big Block Camaros so he was trying to sell me this L78. I do not think that this car had anything to do with his dealership, still one cool Driver.

Stefano, How old is Jack Douglas? It is interesting that he is still out "jiping" cars at his age. Will he ever visit this site to set the record straight? I am curious as to why he closed. A friend of mine that worked at Team Chevrolet (The dealer that is now in the place of Jack Douglas Chevy) told me that before they built Interstate 355 Jack Douglas was selling 300+ cars a month, and when they built I355 (right through their front yard!) it affected sales greatly. Afterwards they went to about 100 cars per month and that is what they still sell today. The general sales manager of the dealer that I work for used to work with a former general manager of Jack Douglas Chevy.

Frank,
He did set the record straight I did print out that long thread for him to read, just to make certain that I represented everything as he has relayed it to me over the years.

The Team Chevy current location was not used until after the Super Car Era had ended. The Super Car Era location was what is Now Continental Motor Sports ,the Exotic car dealership.

He has been involved with the brokering and auctioning of special interest vehicles since he was a dealer.

His son John is the GM of a highline import store, in the Suburbs.

Brass Era cars,Vintage Indy and Road Race cars are his favorites.

He said that he will be at Pheasant Run, November first and Second.
