Someone on Ebay has a 1970 Chevelle TCS Set-Up with wiring harness up for auction http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...20470&rd=1 ...... The wiring harness shows a wire with what looks like a grommet for piercing the firewall....I cant remember this on my 1970 Z-28 and I'm concerned if I should try to buy this Chevelle take off wiring for my 70 Camaro L-78 or do the aftermarket wire fabricators duplicate something accurate.....Thanks for any help.....Chuck/Seattle.....P.S. I still need misc smog components

Not sure what your goal is? Do you need the components or the wiring? As far as the wiring goes, I though the TCS system was incorporated into the engine harness. Do you have an assembly manual to reference?
If you really need the components, shop around. I have seen NOS and repro Solenoids go for around $75. Check Corvette catalogs. M&H has T.C.S. Solenoids and wiring http://www.wiringharness.com/ I have also seen the TCS NOS relay 3961573 go for about $20 on ebay. Greg

Since it is for TCS = Transmission Controlled Spark it may be different for 4sp and auto trans car.

I now have NOS 434 solenoid along with firwall relay and trans switch......but my biggest curiosity wasn if any wire(s) ran thru firewall like it would appear to on that EBAY Harness.....anybody out there have accurate LS-6 to look at....also nice were ASL rebuild TCS solenoids back when Don was doing them......and how about the M&H repop alledgedly made in USA.....how close do they appear to NOS.....thanks, Chuck

Chuck, Are you saying your 1970 Camaro L78 had a TCS system on it? I thought TCS only came on cars that did not have AIR pump. TCS was a cheap way to meet the emission requirements without AIR by useing weird carb and distribitor settings that gave a lean burn condition. My old 70 Corvette 350/350 had TCS with no AIR.

Chuck
M&H does a nice repop of this Switch. As that ebay auction ended with a final price of $254.54,I would opt for it. Auto. or Manual trans made no difference as to the part#'s application for the 1970 Chevelle. JoeC Begining in 1970,all GM Cars recieved TCS,regardless of engine size or plant built. It was a federal Mandate.Yes even Canadian built or Mexico. Engines that came with or without the A.I.R system still got TCS.From the L-6 all the way up to the L-78,& LS-6.A Holley Carb.and solid lifters had nothing to do with it. But as you know, most Muscle car owners pitched the TCS system 2 hours after the took delivery of their new car. |
