Was sorting old magaines last night and came across some old Sun Machine tune up charts, the kind that came with the distributor machines. Listed along with all sorts of information was the original assembly line coil numbers. 293 coils were listed for 396&427 1969/70 hipo engines. Saw a bunch of other #'s not normally listed in Delco catalogues too. HOT TIP! Look for the guys at the swap meets with the old blue metal boxes about 12x12x10" high that these charts came in.

Do you have any other info for the Sun distributor machines? We recently picked up one of these, but it came with no instructions or anything. We would gladly pay for copies of anything you (or anyone else) can come up with. Boy, it would be neat to have a cabinet for that thing also...(hint hint).

Those charts were some I picked up years ago. I think one of the garages I call on may have a machine stuck back in a corner though. I'll check it out and get back next Tuesday if the CRS doesnt kick in. Oh yeah, they were Sun Machine not Snap-on.

I know who you are talking about. That guy (If he's the same one) travels to all the midwest area shows.Vettefest all the time too with those boxes.
I picked up all the 1970 sheets he had,and found Delco Coil number#1115293 as being listed on the L-34,LS-5,L-78 and LS-6 Chevelle. |
