Default '70-'73 Baldwin Motion Camaro Info

Does anyone know if Motion put any type of identifying marks (like a unit number plate) on their cars. Considering the cars do not have original engines, and anyone can add paint, how would someone document a true Motion car? Did motion put any special stamps on the engine, as some performance shops do to identify their work?

Hope to soon be owner of '71 B-M.

I have seen where Motion has stamped the blocks with "MP" plus a serial number. Not sure if this was done all the time or when it started. The only true way to find out of the car is legit is to contact Joel Rosen. For a fee ($1000) he will confirm if the car is a real BM or not. whitetop

Thanks for the info whitetop. I'm going to go look at the car this weekend. It's basiclly a basket case, sitting in a field. It looks to be a '71 Z28 with the Motion paint scheme and an L88 hood. It will probably take all the car is worth to make it presentable, but if it is a Motion car, I won't mind. BTW, does the side stripe wrap around the rear wheel well lip, or possibly wrap into the door jam? Any clues on spotting an original Motion paint job?

Yenkofan,

What do you want to know? First, my e-mail address is a compuserve acount, and it is numeric. I will try to e-mail you.

My "502" is a GM performance parts 502/502. It is in the car now and I have done the initial break in. However, I am finishing some rust repair in the trunk, so I have not really driven the car with the 502 yet.

The car is an original '69 Hugger Orange RS/SS 396 A/C car. It originaly had a black vinyl top and stripes, with a white standard interior. It now has a white top/strips. A much better color combination. The original engine was long gone (it had a '70 402 when I bought it), so adding the 502 was not a hard choice. It is backed by a built TH400 and the original 12 bolt with 4:11 gears.

That's the short story, let me know if you would like to talk specifics.
