Fiberglass and steel hood? The original hoods were all steel. Also, 3 of the 9 - 69 TARAIV automatics came with column shift.

What do you think this one will go for?
Growing up in Boston/Quincy MA I never saw one on the road. |

Of course most people probably didn’t realize it was a Real RAIV car at that time. . There’s also a real RAiV trans am in CT. So you may have seen one and not realized it. |

Looks like a nice car but one little easy to change detail I see is the fan spacer is a GTO style spacer. The firebird only spacer should be in its place. Easy enough to change.
As rare as RAIV birds are can’t be too picky there’s not much out there to choose from. |

I get the weight savings and the fact that most shifters were changed for racing… but to me a column shift on a RA IV T/A is almost as bad as the column shift ZL-1s . Jmho |

i think a lot of the firebird / trans am buyers were quite shocked when their car they ordered came in with column shift. on the firebird line if you checked automatic and didnt order the console it defaulted to column shift. i have a 69 ta that i bought from the original owner (lived in my neighborhood) who bought it new here in tulsa. (it is actually the very first trans am i ever laid eyes on) he told me that when they ordered it they assumed it would be like the mustangs with the floor shift automatic with no console. when it came in he was very disappointed. it is one of the 32 ta's made with ac.

Yeah I can see the confusion, because if you ordered a stick w no console like mine it didn’t have a column shifted stick which some cars did have in that era.
So why would they expect an auto w no console to be column shifted auto (unless specified) especially in a performance car. Good info though |

We had a '68 GTO, bucket seat no console column shift.
I remember riding in it as a kid and being embarrassed about that column shift. K
