I was looking at a 1970 Chevelle yesterday it was a auto floor shift with console but it had the dash shift indicator PRN321. I do not remember seeing that on other cars. Is that the way it should be?

No.
Auto floor shift was indicated on top of the console top only. Column shift via the center dash gauge,as you saw. Someone added 1 of those 2,after it left the assembly line. |
