Default Stroker BBC oil consumption

I need a bit of input from the array of engine experts here. My son has a BBC ¼” stroker crankshaft and wants to build a 482/489/496 for street with an occasional trip to the strip. We are looking at using hypereutectic pistons as they fit a bit tighter in the bore. I have read/heard there may be oil consumption issues with these engines when using a 6.385 rod -- wrist pin is positioned within the oil ring grove.

Any comments/feedback/suggestions are appreciated! TAZ

The oil ring through the pin bore is a non-issue. Proper bore & hone prep and ring choice are far more critical.

Depends on the pistons and intended usage, but generally speaking a conventional (moly) top ring is fine. I'd use a Napier 2nd and medium tension oil ring.

As I indicated, we will use hypereutectic pistons with 5/64" x 5/64" x 3/16" grooves. Mostly street use with occasional trip down the 1320.

Thanks Eric ...
