Default Finned Aluminum Rear Drum Brakes

Hi All,

Does anyone have the application and value for the attached drum brakes? Part # is 1255496 GM. Helping an old road racer ID some neat parts and he's got about 5-10 sets of these.

Thanks,
Dan

Looks like '78 & newer Mid size GM (MC,GP,Olds,Buick etc ) metric drums...lotta guys used them on older 9 1/2" rear drum set-ups for lighter unsprung weight ...street strip and gymkana , road racing applications.....
Value ? what ever you can get for them...
GM MidSize from 78- 90's...not rare at all. jmho

Awesome, thank you.

I have no financial stake in this but I suggested to the old timer to do research prior to tossing. He installed them on very light weight road race style MGs and such. Makes sense they're metric.

Regards,
Dan

Dan, have him post them on Racing Junk.com. (free listings) or Craig's list.... and sell em cheap instead of scrapping them.
I'm sure a few guys here would want a pair or so.....
ask your old timer if he has a Dated 60's-70's fire extinguisher and or Bell type Helmet ?
I have a chrome 2# and could use another....
Tom

I have a set as well. Some of the pure stock guys were running them to save on the reciprocating mass....

These pull some surprisingly high prices on ebay (which is odd since they are not rare parts by any stretch). He could probably get $100+ for each pair.

Seriously ? $450 for GM Aluminum 80's style Metric finned Drums ???
my Dad has a stash of those.
Looks like Thanksgiving Day will be spent in Dad's Junk pile instead of Arm chair quarterbacking....lol
