Default ZINC IN OIL & ZINC ADDITIVES

I remember reading a thread in one of the forums about
using oil w/zinc for camshaft protection, anyway my
searching for those posts have evaded me. Can someone
give me direction to where it is?

Thanks guys. Dicky

Yeah Frankk, I know about the stuff, I just wanted
some info on what people have used and their recommendations with use.
I thought I might refresh myself with the past posts.
What is a good oil and can or do you need to use the additive w/the oil?
Things like that.
Thanks Dicky

Dicky, Brad Penn is a very good oil w/lots of zinc in it.. I have used it for break inn and had very good results with it.. Valvoline VR1 racing oil also has zinc in it and can be bought at the big box auto parts stores...

Joe Gibbs racing oil is also a good oil with zinc additives in it as well.. I switched to that in my solid lifter motor and have had very good luck with it..

Hope this helps...

Rich

Dicky, I've been using the Spectro oil for the last few years. It is formulated for the older engines. Some quick, informational reading here:

It's expensive but I've been using Royal Purple Break in oil and have had no issues.

I thought that they had taken much or most of the Zinc out of the Rotella?

I buy the Zink additive from Edelbrock and throw it in with my Valvoline 20W-50.

I just order a few bottles from Summit so they are here ready for my Oil Changes for my classics.
