On a 69 hugger orange Z with NO viny top, is white the only correct stripe option whether black or white int. and the only way to get black stripes is with a black vinyl top?

My 03D flat hood, no spoiler, black std gut Van Nuys car came with white stripes. Most of the other lot (non customer ordered) cars I have come across over the years out here have been the same. The SS hockey stick stripes had a default of white, maybe the Z default was too?

Forgot to mention, I have seen some interesting combinations of colors, like black vinyl top with white stripes and vice versa. I was told that if a car came down the line and the lead fill at the top/rear quarter join did not meet quality standards for appearance, a vinyl top was put on, as it was not practical to redo. Not sure if the stripes were applied at that point, but kind of makes sense they were.
FWIW. Someone like John Z would have to chime in and verify. JB |

Without a vinyl roof, the stripe was white. With a black vinyl roof you got black stripes. I have never heard of a vinyl roof being added on the line. The studs that hold the vinyl roof mldgs are welded on, and the trim tag would be on the car already. The dealerships would add vinyl roof if the customer wanted one.
