Default radio delete antenna plug

I am having so much fun installing kick panels in my 68 Nova today.... During the festivities, I looked down in one of the crevices and found this rubber plug. I cleaned it up and it fit tightly into the antenna hole of the Nova. When I bought this car years and years ago it had an aftermarket antenna and a huge gaping hole in the dash where someone had installed a CD player. I kinda wondered it if came with a radio or not and since I was not putting one back in it didn't matter. My question is, is this the proper plug and if my car did have a radio why is the plug in that hinge pocket thingy? Also, the plug is crusty on the side that would have been protruding out of the car so i'm thinking it might have been installed and maybe pulled out later?

Yeah, the body itself would have had the hole punched and then plugged. The 68 Novas have a unique dash cluster though, if no radio was used there it was solid without any provision for any radio. The 69-74 Nova used a plate.

Some 69-72 models had a dash bezel that did not use a plate.

Hi Tommy. My radio delete '69 has that plug in the hinge pillar.

The cluster on my '69 has a removable plate for the radio, although a radio delete '71 I had a number of years ago had what looked like a solid cluster with an integral radio delete plate (that couldn't be removed). On that '71, a previous "stereo installer" cut the cluster with an axe though....

The replacement cluster bezel I found on Ebay for the '71 had a solid plate too, but I'm pretty sure the replacement was from a '72 Nova.

Bottom line...I think you have probably have a radio delete car.

Is there a part number molded into the rubber? It might be a "long shot" - but may get lucky and find it is still available.
On my Chevelle I simply filled the hole in the plug with black silly cone, but would like to find an original plug.

Charley is that number4809643? My chevelle had a hard plastic plug that looks like the ones used on the cowl by the the fender bolts.
