does it push through the firewall? This wire/plug was pushed out of the way before I owned the car and it hasn't had back up lights for a few decades either.. I do have a couple holes in the firewall that this plug would fit.

yes it would push into the firewall and the other end coming from the trans would be a molded rubber male end. This is a manual trans car correct

Yes, its a 4 speed. I found the correct spot for it after looking some more. I doubt the backup lights have worked on my Nova since the early 70's. Its had lots of trans/shifter combos. When I got it you could nearly pull the trans up through the floor because the tunnel had been hacked on so much. Well, at least I know what this if for now and I can do something with it later.
