1970 l78 water pump bypass fitting???

Does the waterpump fitting that goes to the intake have a hex or is it smooth like the intake one???putting the nova together and would like to know this. thanks alot John

No hex on the by-pass hose on the intake or the waterpump. They are slotted to use a special socket to install.

What type of "socket" is needed to install those fittings without the hex?
