The originals were paper. Black on one side & tan, like a paper bag, on the other side....Joe

Look at Legendary Interiors. The set I got from them were as original, but that has been a number of years ago now.

The pic on Legendary site shows what looks to be paper material shields but the description describes the REM mylar shields FYI: MANUFACTURED FROM HAZY MYLAR, THESE SHIELDS PROTECT DOOR PANELS FROM WATER DAMAGE AND ARE PLACED BETWEEN THE DOOR PANEL AND DOOR METAL Perhaps oem type is no longer available??

I thought DARREL had a solution for this a while back.

I wonder "IF" a Guy could go to Lowes and in the painting section there is Brown Kraft Masking papers of varying weights avail via the roll. Then Trim out a shield esp if you have a left or right sample. lay flat and shoot a layer of plastic dip aerosol black spray in a even but full coverage to gain the black water protection layer>?

I'm a REM Dealer and LEGENDARY Dealer.....................

I'm guessing that LEGENDARY sources their Door Shields from REM.....

Im no expert on the subject, but "thinking" that MYLAR would be better
than "Paper"

If it cant be seen/judged why wouldnt you want the best available versus
something comparible to what was used 55 years ago ????

Please educate me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not sure if any repops are available. I bought a roll of brown paper at Home Depot or Hobby Lobby. I used the originals that was left as a template and sprayed one side black and used adhesive to secure. As been mentioned it can't be seen so it doesn't need to be perfectly original.
