Default Body-on frame/underside paint selection???

I am detailing the underside of a '71 Chevelle. I have pulled the engine, trans, front suspension, front fender wells, etc.. I am pressure washing and cleaning underneath and want to re-paint everything. I do not have a paint booth and have too much stuff in my shop to chance putting on a lift and using a paint gun. What is the most durable aerosol paint for me to use? I drive this car to shows and want something that lasts.

Eastwood's Extreme Chassis Black is supposed to be very durable, plus it comes in the spray can. I haven't used the Extreme yet, so I can't personally vouch for it.

Joe, for a driver car I would look at using the SEM Rustshield paint...your local autobody store should be able to put it in aerosol cans. It's a semi-flat to satin look...very durable...easy to touch up. For more gloss they have a hardner/enhancer you can mix with it. I have used it and it holds up very well....may not pass for a trailer queen...but for a driver it is good stuff.

Joe, The Seymour Hi-Tech Lacquer Coatings paint is good for what you want to do. I have been using it for years. It dries fast and is very durable. Its about $6.00 a can and covers real nice with the right shades of flat, semi and gloss black. For a rattle can finish its pretty close IMO. Buy it at the shows or mail order. This is the guy I deal with: Branden Enterprises (215)327-4926. He will mail it right out to you. Seymour has ALL the finishes you need in a rattle can for your in-house resto. Have fun!

Sammy uses olive oil to protect the finish on all his cars...it's a sort of Italian Boeshield
