A REALLY Bad move by United Airlines!!
A musician named Dave Carroll recently had difficulty with United Airlines. United apparently damaged his treasured Taylor guitar ($3500) during a flight. Dave spent over 9 months trying to get United to pay for damages caused by baggage handlers to his custom Taylor guitar. During his final exchange with the United Customer Relations Manager, he stated that he was left with no choice other than to create a music video for YouTube exposing their lack of cooperation. The Manager responded : "Good luck with that one, Pal".
So he posted a retaliatory video on YouTube. The video has since received over 6.0 million hits. United Airlines contacted the musician and attempted settlement in exchange for pulling the video. Naturally his response was: "Good luck with that one, Pal". Taylor Guitars sent the musician 2 new custom guitars in appreciation for the product recognition from the video that has lead to a sharp increase in orders.

LOL...doesn't surprise me. I was sitting on a plane a couple years ago, daydreaming out the window while watching the crew load the bags on the plane next to us...someone on that flight had packed a hockey stick, which was in the first 1/3 of the luggage up the conveyor, but one of the handlers grabbed the stick, and then whacked each and every bag up the conveyor from then on! After all the bags had gone up, he simply threw the stick on the conveyor and walked off...

And oh what I would do for a vintage Taylor guitar...

i worked for United for 17 years before i came to my senses, that sort of thing never happens.
seriously though, i can tell you guys stories that will make you NEVER check your bags again.

The airlines are missing the boat here too, they could tack on a additional charge for " Special Baggage Handling "
