Default PUI interiors

anyone have anything to say? I was going to order an entire interior kit for the kids 69 Nova (have not been able to convince him springs in his can are part of the patina).
please send a PM if you can't say it out loud. I need to know.
Thanks in advance.
Chris

PUI is OK, have it in my COPO,it was the only game in town when I restored it.... Legendary is really really nice..I put that in my Malibu...I would choose them if it is available for a nova..my .02

Chris,
Your particular installation might be limited but if Legendary has an application they're probably gonna be better than PUI.

Granted, I've only seen a few sets from both suppliers but Legendary has been the better looking set every time.

I just finished installing a Legendary interior in my Chevelle last week with the help of Dan V. It looks great and fits really nice. The PUI that I replaced it with was 8 years old and didn't fit well. But on the flip side, Bill Hammell's top flight Chevelle has PUI and it looked great at MCACN last week end. I think alot has to do with who is installing it.

Last I checked,Legendary doesn't produce Nova stuff. (I begged them to at Carlisle) PUI is basically the only game in town and thier door panels tend to be very "puffy" (not as flat as orig's) and the decorative trim can come loose/seperate after a while I have found. Another option is have SMS do a set for you/restore yor originals, fairly resonable and closer to the original item

Before Legendary started doing 442/Cutlass interior stuff, I had a set of door panels made at SMS. I believe they may have subcontracted to PUI as what I got was no better that the PUI stuff I looked at a year before. Granted the 442 door panels are complicated with the beveled wood grain anf mylar trim, yet Legendary got it right.
Talk to Doug or Marty at Legendary to see what their plans are. Its possible that your door panel patern may be similar to something they are already producing (other than shape and size).

I talked to the Legendary folks this past weekend at MCACN. There are several other models interiors ahead of the Nova. So we are talking a few years before they add Nova to the line up.

I went the SMS route for a set of 1970 Camaro standard interior door panels. So far it’s been a total nightmare. After being assured they would a perfect match to the original (color, grain, vinyl weight, embossed pleats, etc.), what they sent was similar to the puffy PUI construction, only with poorer a quality. Even the sample material they sent prior to closing the deal, which was a perfect match, wasn’t used. I contacted with my dissatisfaction and they stated they are going make a new set, which are due around x-mas. My original order was back in July. At the same time I ordered pleated seat material, but haven’t seen that. They charged my cc $800 right away and so far this is all I’ve got from them.

good luck with SMS getting them done before christmas. i waited 18 months for my door panels for my 300 deluxe chevelle. i got them and didnt fit worth a crap. i actually sent them back this afternoon after marking all the wrong stuff on them and taking over 30 pictures to send them. they told me they fired 2 guys for poor quality of work and my set was their last . go figure !
