Default 499 distributor stamp opinion

I bought this distributor a while ago and would like to get some opinions on the stamping.
I need a distributor with a May or June date, so I'd be willing to trade this to someone.
TIA

Rick .. to help determine real or not look at the 4 in the 499 if it is real it should have little diamond like spots in all 3 corners. Doug

Where are the 'Saturn' lines that normally go around the casing? Something doesn't look right to me, but.....

Check the diameter of the housing with a vernier. That will tell you if the O.D. has been machined down.

The machined finish on ours is more like the one at the top. It has the definite step down about 5.16" from the top as shown on the second one. A good machined finish isn't necessarily typical though from what I have seen.

To be honest, I think that my distributor is a factory restamp. The area that has the numbers is missing the step for the cap, but the rest of the housing has the step.

Now I know that there were some factory engine restamps, so does my theory sound plausible for this distributor?
I've never seen a restamp nowadays that has the correct fonts like this one.

Here's another pic at a slightly different angle.
