Default Throttle cable or rod?

I was taking things of the 68 Camaro beater to detail last night, and was wondering the car has a throttle cable? I thought they were rods in 68? what is the deciding factor in Cable or Rod

Your car started out as a 6 cylinder and those engines used a cable.
