Does any know if the 69 camaros built in LA have the undercoating underneath the trunk splatter paint on the inside of the quarters? Thanks John

My 68 Z from the LA factory has a very little bit of rustproofing /sound deadner starting at about 2 inches above the trunk floor and down inside the drop offs.It is original to the car. I have a 69 Norwood car that seems to have a lot more applied to the area.

My unrestored LA built 69 Camaro varies from side to side. I'm posting two pics... the left side is quite smooth, but the right side definitely has some undercoating under the splatter paint. It probably depends on the guy applying it.

If you'd like more specific pics, please pm me.

Looking at the right quarter panel I wonder if that's just a texture difference in the spatter paint? I've seen varying degrees of texture. But then again I don't see the texture on the trunk drop off so it must be a body schutz under the spatter. It looks like the spatter matches the border of the texture perfectly-another indicator that it might be a texture in the spatter itself. Or one can imagine if the gun set idle for a while between cars there might be different viscosity if the temperature in the plant was hot or the coating was drying some or not agitated/stirred for awhile. I guess the only way to see for sure is have an example that you can strip down some to see what's there? Does anyone else here have some photos to post for comparison?

There was sound deadener applied, and I'm sure it varied by installer.

L78M22Rag, is there evidence of a piece of cardboard taped over the sidemarker hole during application of the sound deadener on your car?
