I need to replace the gas tank on a 1970 L78 Nova. The car has a build date of the first week of April 1970. Just want to make sure that the tank I need is the one that does not have the "EEC" vent? I assume that the EEC tank was either a California emissions requirement or a late 1970 change? My car is a Canadian delivered car if that changes anything. Also, the Canadian built tanks sold on E Bay by Tamraz as opposed to the offshore tanks sold elsewhere? Any suggestions would be helpful. Also need the sender unit. Thanks, Marc

EEC was a CA thing in 1970 as far as I know...the GM sending units are a better part. Try contacting Wayne at NNN they have good info and parts resources to help with this. www.nnnova.com or 717-252-4192

I would try to have your original cleaned up/restored if possible unless it is that far gone.. Like Ken said, you have to watch the repro tanks.. My friend has one on his 68 Chevelle and he has had problems with pressure in the tank and the gas leaking out onto the rear license plate..

I would think if your car was a Canadian sold car you would be able to find out if you car was equipped with the RPO NA9 emissions option. I have seen 1 documented Canadian Nova that did have this option. Camaro Specialties in East Aurora NY was selling GM/AC NOS 3/8" sending units selling for around $160 for your application and I would try them to see if they still have any left. My 1970 L78 was sold new in CA. and was a real pleasure to find missing pieces to return to its former glory. For a $36+/- option there was a lot of pieces to this puzzle. Thank God for 1971-72 Novas. Keep your fingers crossed that your car did not come with this option. The Tamraz sold Canadian built tanks are good also. Hope this helps.

Do your homework .Your car should have a return line .At some point after Feb. GM made some changes,Dual snorkle A/C,resonators,and the return .Is there any evidence of a return line on the car ?
