Two engines found tonight....can't find the codes in my book, can someone help me out?
First is: Reported to be out of Chevelle. Casting number 3955272 Stamped with "Hi Perf Pass" and also has "TG" stamped on it. Second is: Reported to be a 427. Casting number is 396985. Date code is F119. Also has GMCOMV1 stamped on it. Anyone have ideas? Will go back on Saturday to move the heap of farm machinery to get to them to get codes off them. Thanks for the assistance in advance! Phil

The 3955272 appears to be a '69 396 and the 396985 a '70 402..
Get the rest of the numbers if there are any and post them all for more info.. ![]() ~ Pete

It's probably a 3969854 396/402cid block that was used during the 1969-70 model production based on the casting date.
Both of your blocks were available in 2 or 4 bolt mains. Make sure to check. |
