Default 1962 Chevy Nova Rescue

It's Friday night, it's raining, I'm bored, so I thought I would post some pictures you may find entertaining. Hope you enjoy it.

I work part time on (some) Saturdays at a friend's repair shop. It's another way to put some extra cash in my pocket to support my car car hobby. Anyway, a regular customer had repeated told us over the years of a '62 Nova that had been in her family since new and wanted to have towed back to Maryland so she could fix it up and sell it.

In January of 2007, she told us her parents had died, the property was up for sale, and the Nova HAD to be removed from the garage or she would lose it. It seems it was willed to her. After some communication back and forth, the address was obtained, and I was asked to come along to help and, as I always do, take pictures. We had no idea what condition the car would be in, only that it did not run from sitting so long.

When we arrived, her brother (very protective of the property) opened the door to the garage. Some large items needed to be removed from the entrance, but luckily nothing was piled on the car.

Once we cleared the right side away and removed the remains of a car cover, this is what we found.

The missing trim was found in the trunk.

Can't say I've ever seen an interior decor like this!

These were found on a shelf by the left rear of the car.

Dragging the car out of the garage.

While mulling around inside the garage, I notice large gaping holes on the right side. Luckily the holes were not over the car!

This guy was glad to see this car go!

Appears the car had one repaint in the original color. Seems one side of the car was damaged when backing into this very garage.

Folder includes papers that were inside the house. The original West Virginia title from 1962 was in it!

Trim sure is shiny!

He was glad to have an empty garage!

There is damage to the trim on the RF fender, might have been from entering or exiting the garage.

Now loaded up, we headed back to Maryland on I-70. West Virginia and Western Maryland have very nice scenery.

Anyway, back at the shop, we got the urge to fire it up, if it would!

Don't know if you can see the smoke from the tail pipe or not, but after dropping a battery in it, pouring some gas in it, and about a dozen cranks, it fired up without fanfare!

We let it run for about an hour, it never missed a beat, rockers became more and more quiet.

Still smoking!

After receiving some brake work, fluid changes, fuel pump, carb rebuild, and a somewhat quickie detailing, we took it to a show across the street from the shop one Saturday.

The pizza is here, gotta go eat.

Hope you enjoy these.
