This is a neat story, which was told to me from a friend of the original owner. I have no docs or pics, so it is just hearsay. But maybe someone here will be able to come up with some verification?
A guy named Ronie Leaf from Eastchester NY, took up the Nickey offer, to have them pay for a flight into Chicago and then Drive your new Nickey Camaro home. According to the friend, he purchased a Turquoise with light Blue Interior Super Sport. L72 427. The car was equipped with Rally wheels/Redlines and the std SS Hood. He drove the car from Chicago back to Long Island. He added a set of 9" Slicks, and ran the car at National Speedway and won his class that weekend, in what he remembers as A/Modified Production. |

Neat story!
Just a little FYI. Eastchester, NY is in Westchester County. Its not on Long Island. Any chance the car or the owner is alive and well? -Dan

I get so many cool stories. I need to hire a historian just to keep track of them. Sometimes a story is all you have to start with.
I had a guy call looking for a set of Nickey Radir wheels, just like he had on his Black/Red Nickey RS SS '67 L72. I always ask for pics and docs. [image] [/image][image] [/image] |

He said that the white wall tires were the widest/non slicks he could find to fit the rims and had to jack up the rear via shackles to get them not to Rub.

Dan,
The wheels were Custom made and exclusive to the Nickey Super Cars. Both "14 and "15 were made. They were a very expensive option and other styles proved more popular. I missed that pair and would certainly like to have a set. Anyone have pics of these wheels on other cars? |
