Default Scottsdale Pavillions Car Show Permanently Cancelled

My wife just found an article online saying that the weekly show at the Rock & Roll McDonalds at Scottsdale Pavillions has been permanently cancelled, effective immediately. I suspect Cold Beers & Cheeseburgers (as per Rick's excellent video coverage) will see an increase in business, especially this fall.

This is pretty sad news. It was a great place to host such an event. I was also fortunate to be able to attend at least 12 events late last year and early this year and met Rick and few other people from this site.

I have to give Rick credit for all his efforts as part of the "Derelicts" giving visibility to this event through all his pictures. Now onto some Cold Beers & Cheeseburgers as Bill said.

Here’s the article:
https://www.citysuntimes.com/news/sc...5a8b9357d.html

I found two holes in this reporting, so this is not a done deal. Also, CB&CB will not be a permanent replacement should Pavilions go away. City of Scottsdale limits the amount of outdoor ‘events’ a business can host. Also, when football season starts, they won’t have room on the parking lot.

Pavilions could hold as many events as they wanted because it is on tribal land. Scottsdale’s silly laws do not apply.

As I was typing this, I just remembered I have a phone number for one of the 'organizers’ and just sent a text.

Anyway, not a verified done deal yet. There are actually 3 parties of ‘organizers’ and without a name published in that article, I’m skeptical it is accurate.

Confirmed from two sources, RIP Pavilions;

Closure of the Rock and Roll Car Show
at The Pavilions at Talking Stick

We regret to announce that the Rock and Roll Car Show at The Pavilions at Talking Stick will be permanently closed, effective immediately.

For over three decades, this beloved event has brought together car enthusiasts, families, and community members to celebrate classic and custom vehicles in a fun and welcoming environment. We are incredibly grateful for the years of support, passion, and memories shared by our loyal participants and visitors.

This decision was not made lightly, and we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all who have contributed to making the Rock and Roll Car Show a Saturday night tradition.

While this chapter is coming to a close, the spirit of the car community lives on, and we encourage everyone to continue supporting local events and gatherings that celebrate the automotive world. We highly encourage event patrons to visit Cold Beer & Cheeseburgers Saturday Car Meet Up at Pima Crossings in Scottsdale on Shea and 101. https://www.coldbeers.com/cheeseburgers/car-shows/

Thank you for being part of the journey!

I hate to hear this but it’s happening everywhere. Not just the bigger venues like this but our local Friday or Saturday night get togethers.
Getting where we don’t have anywhere to meet up talk n enjoy our hobby. I sure hope Summmernite Cruise keeps on going.

The folks at Cold Beers and Cheeseburgers are currently figuring out a way to take over the former Pavilions car show. Lots to work out with Scottsdale and the other tenants in the shopping center.

CB&CB is about 3-4 miles north of Pavilions on Shea Blvd and the 101. It’s a smaller lot, but at least it’s a place that wants us to come to every Saturday.

I figured the writing was on the wall. First when the place was sold years ago is usually never a good thing for events like this. Then when they issued a curfew a few years ago, then the insurance problems and possibility of charging a fee to enter came along recently, I could just sense it was coming to an end. Oh well, it'll put a dent in all the business it brought to the area every week. The beer burger place isn't big enough to host all the cars the pavs attracted. Luckily there are literally dozens of cruises all over the valley every weekend and since I come from Prescott it doesn't make a difference if I go to the East valley or the West valley. Well just hit the other cruises more often. Plenty of places that still welcome us.

It's been my pleasure. I'll just have to shoot cars at other places.
