In 2004 A member here Jude Hettick told me about a Ls6 chevelle That was close to him in Atlanta Georgia and could be bought. He then sent me pictures of it and had said it was an all numbers matching car. It had the original 454,m-22 trans and 4:10 rear axle. The car was cortez silver with black stripes, cowl induction hood and benchseat. I was not to fond of the bench seat and was going to change it but after awhile it grew on me. I purchased the car in June of 2005 and started the restoration as soon as I got the car home.
It was missing a lot of parts and the current owner did not do the car any justice by letting it sit outside with no winshield in it for several years. he wrecked the dash and the interior. He had taken things apart and threw some things in a bucket and some away. everything was missing like the carb,dist,alt,starter,pulleys,smog..... you get the picture. It was a very difficult restoration and being my 1st frame off on my own it was a little scary. I took the car to Tom Scholtz and he performed the body and paint. It needed floor work, cowl work, quarters and a trunk floor but it was well worth it when done. I used all nos sheetmetal for the car. I contacted Chris White and he sold me a boatload of nos parts including an nos 3 spoke wheel and an nos remote mirror. I purchased a lot of nos stuff off e-bay as well. The car Is documented with 2 buildsheets and a bill of sale Sold new at Lammar Ferrell Chevrolet in Decauter Georgia. The Interior is all original except for the headliner as I purchased nos doorpanels, carpet, extremly mint and original front bench and rear seat. Chad ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

You did an excellent job and showed a lot of patience on this project especially considering how much was missing. Hopefully your next one is more complete. BTW, sweet floormat protectors!!!

Hey Chad,
The car looks incredible! It doesn't get any better than Cortez Silver, cowl induction and four speed. You did a fantastic job. It took a great deal of patience and perseverance to complete this car. Cudos to you and the guys who helped! Richard. |
