'62 blue molded carpet (early)

I know this isn't a site catered to '62s, but you guys are true car guys all around and maybe have a network that can help me.
My blue car needs a blue molded tux (salt & pepper) carpet, but one that Auto Custom Carpet produced about 10 years ago when they had the correct 80/20 nylon rayon material. The ones sold since then are just not the right material.
I need a lead to someone who may have purchased one that long ago and never used it or a dealer who might have had one that long ago and never sold it.
I know I'm looking for a needle in a haystack, but I'm hoping someone have a magnet! Thanks very much; this car deserves the right stuff!

I was really hoping I could save the original carpet. It would have been ok with me if it was just faded or a little worn. This is what I started with.

Then I had my friend "Dr. Clean" come by with his professional rig and we both worked on it.

But this is how it came out. Once the dirt was cleaned out of the rest of it, the stains just looked worse. I gave it my best but I just had to face reality; not nice enough to keep. Very depressing...

I thought all I needed to replace was the headliner. (remember the headliner thread where I received all those "positive" comments?!?) The rest of the interior is just great original, as nice as I could want it. I just can't leave the floor like that.
I saved the old carpet to use as a template for the replacement, including the way the jute pieces are glued to the backing. I also photo'd and marked all the ashfalt impregnated insulation panels that were underneath that I scraped up so they could be replaced exactly as they were.
The guys on this site are TRUE car guys who know how important some of this "little" stuff means. That's why I reached out here.

I hear you, but I like the look of that carpet and would probably like the smell as well!!

Do you think that you may be able to dye the carpet using Rit dye?
Being blue the light spots look like sunfade... On black the carpet begins to look tan or grey... I have dyed original carpets and the carpet on the door panel bottoms as well... It may be worth a shot trying it on a hidden place. You may be surprised.

I would also try taking it out and using laundry detergent and a fairly stiff plastic bristle brush. Once you are done scrubbing, use a pressure washer and wash it off. You may be very surprised by the results.

Yeah Verne try what Jason said....and believe it or not--I've used a strong dog shampoo on a couple of rugs that were pretty soiled and got amazing results.......

Besides the stains, it's too thread bare in a couple places. IT's not a matter of cleaning it better or dying it. I see more than you do in the photos. It's a gonner.

I'm not doing this because I want to "restore" the car; I want to "fix" it.

PS: I DO appreciate everyone's suggestions about how to try and save it. But no matter what I did, that carpet would end up 10 times worse than anything else in the interior.

Hi Verne:
Have you talked to these guys. I know a friend who landed what he considered a NOS carpet from them for an early Impala. It was black mind you but worth a call to see what they may have. Good Luck Joe
