Guys - I'm out of my element with a second Gen car - have been wanting one, but, havent gotten fully educated yet. And dont you know, I found one that I might be interested in.
1971 SS 396 - blue on blue, 4 speed with A/C. The original radio is gone and the 10 bolt was swapped for a 1970 model 12 bolt and someone put a 402 sticker on the breather. Odometer reads just under 17,000. Receipts for an engine rebuild at around 13,000 miles in 1997. Supposed to be a numbers matching car. Car was built in CA - I was counting on it being a Norwood car so the trim tag would tell me everything. It does show the right color for paint and interior. Any designation that would show the LS3 and 4 speed on a CA car? I have seen some pics and it looks nice, very nice. Just not sure about prices on these cars. Ideas and opinions? thanks |

Color, option content, condition, and most of all- originality determines value on these cars.
Questions I would ask: If 13,000 original miles why the engine rebuild? Car does not sound like it is very original with major components either rebuilt or replaced. Was the car raced? That would explain the 12 bolt switch perhaps. Another place to ask your question: www.nastyz28.com Value: IMO (on your discription) Between $15K and $20K- perhaps less upon inspection, body work, bad paint and the rest. Best of luck. Could be a great driver. ![]() |
