Is it just me or are you more likely to give a panhandler money if he's honest and says he wants the money for a drink as opposed to the guy who says he needs the money to get home to see his dying mother?
Maybe I'm wrong but, I prefer the honesty over the made up BS story.

The only time I ever gave money to a panhandler was when one came up with this line on the street in Newark, NJ:
Him: Sir, What's the best nation on earth? Me: America! Him: No, it's donation!  I gave him $5 for that one!
