Default SBC block pad decode please

Looks like it says F03I4EC and that's all that's on the pad, no VIN. Allegedly a 327. I can't get at the casting number. Anyone help me decipher this? Thanks in advance.

Hm....looks like either 65 Chevelle 327/350 SHP or 66-67 Chevelle 327/275 with A.I.R. I am hoping it's a 65!

That would be neat if it was a '65 L79! Where is the casting date on this? Down by the starter? (Excuse me if that's a dumb question!) What does a lack of VIN indicate? Or did GM not stamp VINs on them in 65-66? I'll try to get at the casting number and post it.

I think the date should be somewhere on the bellhousing flange. Let us know! I have had a few 65-66 283s and 327s and none have had a VIN stamp, for what it's worth.

I was told (on Yenko.net?) months ago, that only the high HP 65/66 small blocks got the VIN stamp.
