I see '68s with two stripe styles. The early '67 style and the one unique to '68 that runs down the body line. Were both used in '68.

Thanks. Is it known what determined the particular stripe?

The "Bumble Bee" or D91 Stripe was used in the first half year of the '68 production run. In Jan '68 it was changed to the D90 stripe which wraps around the front like the D91 but then runs down the fender ending midway through the door. It was the time of year that car came off the line that determined the type of stripe, between the two discussed, that it received.

I think Mark C has posted other places that the Change over for the stripe for the 68 was mid Dec 1967.
The reason I post this is because I just received some (Vintage?) photo's of My 12E LOS 1968 SS/RS 396, dated Jul 70 from the third owner and I was Very pleasantly surprised to find that my car had the stripe down the door and matches my restoration (PAINT JOB) I had done in 1987. I plan on sending copies of the photos to Bruce so he can add then to my members rides feature as a 'rest' of the story item. P.S. it includes photos of the "BLACK" back panel, hint, hint,,,,,, V/R Jim ![]()
