Default My 69 Chevelle

Hi all,

I have a 69 Chevelle SS that I have owned since 1991. Over the years it has been daily driver, weekend toy to low 11 second street car.

This past February I decided to give it a full body job. I stripped it myself as I was too curious as to what laid beneath what I knew was a lot of bondo. Don t get me wrong, the car was quite clean and always got a lot of compliments but it was really a 20/20 car.

So, once stripped, there were holes everywhere. Poor jobs from the 70s (brass welds) and patch work that would look good only only a quilt!

So, it got all new full 1/4s, fenders, door shells, rockers, outer wheel houses & drop offs.

Below is how it looked before, during and at the latest stage, smothered in its original color...LEMANS BLUE!

Next steps are to buff out the clear and assemble. I ll update when complete. In the meantime:

Before:

During:

After (still neds to be buffedéwet sanded):

Chris....very nice work. Proper fit and gaps is what makes a car. Keep up with the pics with more progress.

Love the color

Dan.

Very nice looking car so far. Reminds me of the exact same car I had in the early eighties. Tell me you are adding a white SS stripe.

I will be adding the D96 side stripe in about a month. I want the clear to fully dry the specified 30 days before I do it though. It'll be white to match the parchment interior.

Also, I am seriously thinking of putting the 4speed back in it since I am going to have a hard time racing it now.

I'll keep posting as I make more progress.
