68 corvette value!

What would a 68 corvette coupe be worth when it is restored.It has the following options,327(I think),turbo 400,power brakes,power steering,air conditioning, and t-tops.It is green with black interior.

I have a chance to buy it from a friend of the family. The motor was just rebuilt 0 miles along with the tranny. The frame has been painted and it has all new brakes and lines etc. It would only need paint,(it is in primer now). The body is on the frame with new bushings. In this stage what would the car be worth. Motor and tranny are in the car but it is not running yet. It wouldn't take much to bring this one back on the road! My son who is seven loves corvette's and I would be buying it for us to do together. I really don't need another car to work on but deals like this don't come along everyday. Looking for some opinions Please!!

With an automatic transmission the engine has to be the base 300 horse motor. The good news is you've found what should be one of the lowest priced chrome bumper Corvettes around. As the owner of a few '68's, I'm familiar with their quirks. The negatives about the car are the year, 1968, along with the 327 and automatic. Also, the car is green and a coupe, all should make the price lower.

I'm going to assume the engine is original (please check and verify with someone). Since the car needs work, I'd certainly think it's value is in the low teens, probably as affordable Corvette as you can find in this condition. It would be a good car to purchase and work on with your son, just be careful how you spend your money. This car done would be worth in the low to mid 20's on a good day, so you don't want to have more than this in the car in hard funds. This is my opinion, I'm sure there are many others out there.
The key is not to get upside-down in the car. Paint will be the major cost, check the frame for rust. If there is severe rust, run from the car, even if they give it to you.

I would think if you can get a really great deal on it then buy it. If it is not a great deal, let them sell it at market value to someone else. Remember a good paint job is not cheap.
