Default 1969 Camaro Found With COPO 12 Bolt ?

Hi,I recently bought a 1969 camaro roller,no motor or trans, with a X-11 code, front disk brakes, big block heater core, and the accelerator arm does have the extra bracket for the switch to activate the cowl hood.I went under to look at the 12 bolt and found the BE code on rear.It now has 456 gears?I can read only one of the three digits for the year, and it looks like a (8).The car has a Febuary build date, and rear is June.I am wondering if someone just had the rear, and put it in this car,or if I should dig deeper to see if this a COPO ? I have contacted the 4 previous owners back to 1982 and the trail stops. All previous owners said the same thing that they had a small block in the car,but was under the impression it was a big block car orginally. What are the BE coded 12 bolts worth,if this is not a COPO. Any help on this would helpfull, post or email me at [email protected] THANKS

With a Feb build date and a June Axle date, theres no way the axle could be original to the car. Now if it was the other way around.... Doesn't mean the car couldn't be a COPO, maybe the original axle blew up and thats a replacement, all it means is that that particular axle didn't leave the factory under that car.

Whats the VIN and cowl tag info? Does it have the correctly punched (not drilled) hole for the cowl induction hood wiring?

A few days ago a friend showed me the Ebay ad on the car you bought,X11, BB heater core, cowl switch on accelerator arm, etc. It really looked not messed with. Either way the parts were worth more than you paid. If it had a real BE that is a great bonus. Post some detailed shots of the firewall, cowl switch, BE stamp, etc. The trim tag was re-riveted for some reason. Early build for a real Copo car thats for sure. You never know. Good luck.

If the trim tag was re-rivited,then that would be interesting, the only way to tell then is by the vin? Here is the trim tag

Those rivets don't look original!

Real tag, bad rivets. But the tag date lines out with the VIN.

Dave,

How closely does the cowl date & Vin "line out" as you
mentioned? Do the non-original rivets indicate that this
cowl tag was affixed to this car sometime after original
manufacture?

First car in Feb was 589721 and the last one of the month was 607164. Tag may be original to the car, but has definitely been off and then put back on with non-original rivets. Unfortunate, because now the car will forever be questioned, even if it is the original tag.
