I run HEI in my '70 350 Camaro and the GM unit fits perfectly on the back of the engine.
I cannot see any real issues fitting distributor back there... I got to have a least an inch or two remaining

on a 1st gen camaro with a small block it generally takes a hammer to make an hei fit and allow for adjustment, motor mounts can be swapped to make it work a little better.
what engine is in the firebird? |
