Default 1969 l-78 nova rear ratio's

what are available rear ratio's for a 1969 l-78 4 speed nova? is it possible to have a 3.42 non posi from factory? . that's my ratio with correct date to car. and car is a proper l-78 4-spd car. with non orig trans. but with that rear i would assume it was a m-20 trans car..ps anyone have a correct distributor for me. that's reasonable? i believe 1111499 and also 4346 holley. anything before 3rd week feb 69.thx

69 L78's ran the gamut with factory offered trans/rear options. My original 69 L78 Nova came from the factory with an M20 and a BW 4:56 rear, prepare to open your wallet large for an original "499" distributor as this was the distrib in 69 for all the solid lifter BB's including COPO's, don't think it applies to L88's or ZL1's though. Check National Nostalgic Nova for more info and parts for these cars. SULLY

Ratbox;

What is the code of the axle tubing? I can look it up to see what it was from the factory.

The 3.55 rear was standard. There were situations where the buyer could spec out the car with a 3.08 non-posi rear for cost savings. Anyone remember the citrus green L78 731 interior nova on the cover of MCR several years ago? The irony was that the cover had the car smoking the tires - both of them - even though it was a non-posi rear. (Yea, I know you can get them both smoking on an open rear, but not to the degree of the picture - it was airbrushed in as 'artistic license' )
