I have A set of Motion badges that are much larger than any I have seen on any of the Motion cars I have seen. Did they make more than one size? Mine are 4 1/2 inch long and 1 inch tall.

I too have only seen one size (original) and that was 4"x3/4". Now I do know of at least one memorabilia dealer who repoped these, along with a couple of other dealers, so maybe one of those?

No, there actually WERE 2 different sized Motion emblems, although the smaller ones seem to be much more common... This was discussed a few weeks ago in a valve cover thread, where some of the Motion valve covers have the larger emblems in them, that were cut down to fit inside the recess of the valve cover... others have the more common "smaller" ones that fit neatly into this recess with no modification. While i don't have an unmodified example of one of the larger emblems, i do have a pair of original Motion valve covers with these larger emblems in them that were cut to fit. I also believe there was a Corvette at one of the SCR's that had these larger emblems on the hood... I believe it was SCR2,and may have been Daryl Dodd's blue car. I'm not positive on the dimensions of the larger emblems, but they DO indeed exist.

These badges were on A car I was never able to get any information on and ended up selling (minus the badges). I talked with three owners and all said they have been on the car as long as they could remember which was at least sometime in the seventies. I kinda figured they had been ordered from one of the Motion catalogs or something. I'm aware of repops but not from that long ago. I'll try to get A picture of them posted.

OK, i dug out the camera... here are some pics of the "standard" Motion emblems... note how the entire emblem fits neatly into the valve cover recess...

Compare that to this one... its one of the above mentioned "larger" emblems, that has been cut down to fit inside the recess of the valve cover... notice the edges are removed, and the "M" and the "N" come out to the very edge of the recess. Before modification, these larger emblems have the same outer chrome edge as the smaller ones. Both of the valve covers and emblems in these photos are originals.

Thanks for posting those pictures. My pair would be the same as the larger ones except they have not been cut for the valve covers. they were on the fenders of the car. My camera and antique computer aren't being cooperative so no picture yet but thanks again for answering my question.

I know some badges were cut to fit in the valve cover slots, but the slots I've seen on some Motion valve covers weren't the same length as the slots on the old polished aluminum Motion Valve covers---I just never saw them, but never say never------------I'll wait for the photo
![]() Joe---Do me a favor--measure the length of the slots ![]() |
