1970 Camaro Z28 Carb Question

I just upgraded the carburetion and intake set up on my 1970 Camaro. My new Carburetor has a diameter of 5 inches (maybe slightly less). I need to know if a stock, dual snorkel air cleaner will fit correctly on my new unit. Thanks very much.

All the Holley carbs take a air cleaner base with a 5 1/8" opening. Q-jet is the same diameter. So are late AFB/Edelbrock style carbs. A q-jet a/ cleaner usually hits on the Holley float adjustment screws and choke linkage though.

What carb did you put on Dan ?

I am going against grain and will install an Edelbrock Carb with an electronic choke with a performer intake. Friend had the carb brand new, just sitting and he basically gave it to me.

I did a lot of homework trying to find a Q-Jet carb with the correct intake, coil, and distributor too. But after being quoted $1000+ for items that APPEAR to be original, I figured I was better off buying new parts for a fraction of the cost, with warrantees if something goes wrong. That price did not include gaskets, bolts, sealants, paints, and cleaners too (basically all the little details).

I did not want to buy anything NEW for this car. This WAS my vintage project. I guess I blew it. But since I drive it so much, 6000 miles now in 2 years, I think I made the right choice.

Regardless if the parts are correct looking Q-Jet parts, or newer Edelbrock items they are NOT original. This is my driver, time to have fun!
