Nice car but good luck trying to get that number. Who put the 455 emblems on the fenders? Their off a 70 bonneville. Wagners prices have really jumped since they made that mistake and sold that Ram iv Judge last year for 30k.

Re: 455 emblem. Not there if GTO but if LeMans then probably as shown. '71 was different. Didn't look to see if hood said Ram Air as all '72's required the T-41 nose and Ram Air when 455HO was ordered. Would like to see sn as to see the X in it. Should read 2D66X if 455HO. According to Dan Jensen's registry there were actually 7 of these GT converts built. 5 w/at and 2 w/mt. Also couldn't see if 12 bolt or not.

I know a couple of people who have these cars and they do not have that emblem.

I have to say these 455 emblems are correct also, I have seen other pics of them on a car, and I believe I have seen two hardtops in real life with the emblems on them. It's a very cool set up with the GT out of the stripe there on the front like that and the 455 emblems, the Pontiac engineers hit a the mark on design with that one.

Steve,

I have mixed emotions with the '71/72 stripes. I do like the eyebrow and sword both. Mine has no stripes. Just a plain Jane. There was a '72 in Kodiak years ago. Gold with black stripe w/ black bucket interior. 350/350 but very nice car. I'm sure it is long gone.

It seems they changed the emblem location and GT location depending on year and engine. But, all engines except 455 were called out on rocker panel on front fender. The 455 and 455HO moved around depending on the car in '71 but have seen several '72's with the emblem shown on them. That emblem was in the grill in '71 and depicted the standard 455. Mistake made on mine as no emblems/cid callouts anywhere. Made for fun times on the street. Here is picture of it back then. Or at least part of it.

I don't know the ends and outs of the 71-2 but I love the GT next to the 455 emblem, it's different and cool. I've now seen several, it's something you remember and stands out.

That is one sweet looking car you got there, love the slots!!! Post more.

The 455 badge should be on 455/250 cars. The HO should not have this badge.

The 455HO was on the spoiler ends on those with spoiler on GTO or on front fender of non spoiler cars. It was a decal. In '71 or '72 the hood read Ram Air on ram air cars.

In '71 the 455HO was in one location on Judge, different on GTO/LeMans and GT-37/T-37 was different yet. On '72 455HO call out was as described above but don't have assembly manual to verify location.

Also the manifold is painted. It was aluminum but painted. Beginning in '71 no Pontiac had chrome under the hood and entire engine was painted one color. Bonneville etc may have had some chrome but not on engine. Maybe on lid but have never seen an original with chrome anything under the hood.

Also noted that it does not say LeMans anywhere on it. I believe there should be a LeMans emblem somewhere. If memory serves me right after 32 years ago it should say LeMans on trunk. I would like to see serial number for the car. That is the tell tale if it is a 455HO or standard 455. For that kind of money they need to give more information. Boy, wonder what my T-37 is worth? Also if an original 455 car it will have a 12 bolt.
