Here is a picture of the 05 Monaro and with a hood scoop treatment . The GTO is supposed to get the same hood. Looks better them the flat hood. They are at least going in the right direction.

I like the new hood scoops if they are indeed functional. However, the 'new' GTO is getting mixed reviews. The old school GTO owners say its' not worthy of the name because its not built in America.
On the other hand, it is rear wheel drive and has LS1/LS6 power. A nice combination in this age of front-wheel drive Ricers and Econo-Boxes. Times do change!

While I am still on the fence on how the new GTOs look, I will say the scoops do add alot, but I also have to wonder how much it would have cost Pontiac to retool the Grand AM into RWD as was proposed several years ago when the talk of bringing back the GTO surfaced. If it was mui money, can't blame them for looking elsewhere for something already RWD.

I would like to have seen a more retro look.
The new GTO has the goods under the hood but the styling looks like a Japan built car(imo). |

I got from it from www.ls1.com.au a Holden forum. Still unsure if that hood will be standard on the Holden but the word is that it is 90% sure for the GTO but you never know. Heres another pic.

This statement is coming from a Mopar guy. So please take that into consideration when responding. However. Looking at the new GTO so far, it doesn't remind at all of the original cars (I literally mean, "AT ALL"). Unlike the Ford Mustang which I think will take the car purist by surprise, what's the attraction to this new GTO. Thanks, Patrick

It was not susposed to lool anything like the orig car. Does a 4th gen camaro look anything like a 1st gen? The essence of the car is the same though. The first GTO was born from a rather plane (for the time) looking LaMans. GM has done the same with this GTO as it looks like your typical 21st century coupe but packs a punch.

I understand the recent camaros were nothing like the 1st generation camaros. However, you could tell which family tree they came from. I think the history of the GTO speaks for it self. It was a great car. I just don't think GM has done just with a car with such history. Show me something with some real GTO roots. Patrick

I agree with you. I drove an 04 and decided to pass for now. The car has plenty of power and a great interior and excellent handling characteristics. The outside is just a little too bland for my liking at least a new hood is a step in the right direction. I can't verify the attached pic but I hope it is for the 06.
