Default Nickey shop photo

Found this Nickey shop photo in an old magazine. Looks like the swap is being performed on a '67 RS/SS 350.

Default Nickey shop photo #2

There's Dick Harrell overseeing the installation of an L72 427 in a '67 RS/SS 350 Camaro in the Nickey garage. Note the steel wheels and hubcaps on the car.

It looks like they left the Corvette exhaust manifolds on the engine. I thought these would interfere with the crossmember on Camaros?

Maybe, just maybe, these photos show the first such conversion by Nickey? Maybe they found out that the Corvette manifolds didn't work just as the second photo was taken? Why else would a photographer be on hand (and Dick Harrell too) but to record the first conversion in progress?

Pure speculation of course.
