I will start off by giving praise to Denis Gilbert and Mark Bulaw for the help they gave me with tracking the
owners of my car. With the info from Denis I was able to track back to the car's second owner Gary Hunter. He bought the car from Downtown Motors in Springfield,Oh in 1970 for $2495. Gary is now searching for pictures and any papers his might have left on the car.The car's first owner had passed away and the car got dumped on the car lot, where it sat for 3 days before Gary get the money to buy it. It was titled in his mother's name because she had signed the loan papers. The car then passed thru 3 other owners before I bought it by accident. Gary said the car was a Springfield local before he got it. This again leads me to believe the car came from Frost Cheverolet in Mechanicsburg, which is close to Springfield. I know the paperwork "rules", but I feel that the car is the real deal based on this new info and intend to give it the correct resto that it deserves. Don't worry about it ending up a trailer queen. It will be driven the way that these cars were meant to be driven, when it is finished. [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ ![]() Thanks again to Denis and Mark. I'll try to get some current pics of it to post. I'll tell you now that the car is rough from its decade+ of neglect sitting outside before I found it. Also keep in mind the fact that I only paid $500 when I bought it. It will take me a few days to clean it off so I have room to get the pics. I am still waiting to see if Gary has any early pictures of the car. Eric |

Here's an update.
I'll post pics when I get the car out of storage, after Thanksgiving. Sorry for the delay. I have talked to the car buyer/seller from Downtown Motors and he is helping me fill in some of the missing pieces. He has verified most of the info that I was given by the previous owners. I also spoke to a local Sringfield person who had the engine for the car and was trying to buy it at the same time I was. I bought the car and he lost track of where it went. He told me that the engine ( a bare std bore block )was sold to a collector around Chicago about 4 to 5 years ago. If anyone might have any ideas on its location please pm me. I have also gotten a more positive lead that the car probably came from Frost Cheverolet in Mechanicsburg. I will post details later. Thanks for all of the help that this sites members have given me. I have the pictures of the car to post, but am having some trouble attaching them to this message.
Each pic is about 700K and I haven't figured out how shrink them to fit. Also they are jpgs. Will that matter? Thanks for any help you can give me. I'm not that good with computer pictures. Eric |
