Here is a Motion Converted '81 Corvette listed on E-Bay
Vehicle Description 1981 Baldwin Motion Conversion Corvette Project Car, This auction is for a 1981 custom Corvette Coupe project car. Joel Rosen of Motion Performance who started building super cars in 1966 created it, and by 1968 was the #2 producer of specialty performance vehicles, behind the Ford owned and run Shelby GT Mustang operation. I have owned this car for the last six years. The Corvette exterior was recently restored. 2 months prior to the Fire. This car is rebuild able and a great way to obtain a Corvette for personnel use that would otherwise be unobtainable. The engine is a 350 Cu in. The car has an automatic transmission with a shift kit. New powder coat hooker headers with new stainless steel exhaust & mufflers, Power windows, Power Door Locks, Rear Window Defogger, Power steering, Power brakes, Tilt –Tele steering column, air conditioning, Grey/Leather Interior, Sport Mirrors, AM_FM Stereo Radio. Gotti racing wheels the car has a clear title without liens. I have spoken to Joel who has since retired to FLA on the phone and he was willing to document the car for a nominal fee. I have many more photos of before during and after the restoration that I will email you. The Corvette is sold “as is” without any warrantee specified or implied. Please e-mail me with questions before you bid. If you are not sure about something, please ask! Do not assume anything not listed is included. We reserve the right to cancel bids for excessive negative feedback. We reserve the right to end the listing if the vehicle is no longer available for sale. Serious bidders only! Winning bidder must contact me within 24 hours of auction end, and make arrangements for payment at that time. A $1000.00 deposit is due within 24 hours of end of auction. The remainder is due within 5 days of auction end. Buyer is responsible for pickup or shipping of this vehicle. If you wish to have it shipped using a service, I will gladly cooperate. You can locate shippers by doing a search for `auto shippers`. Please do not bid unless you are serious about owning this vehicle. All non-paying high bidders will be reported to eBay, and negative feedback will be posted. PLEASE ONLY BID WHAT YOU ARE WILLING TO PAY. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevrolet...593853859QQrdZ1 I emailed the owner and here is his explanation about the car. ---------------------------------------------------------- Larry, Yes according to a telephone conversation W/Joel the Car was converted by the Motion shop. the Information he gave me over the telephone was... He Built the car for a friend of his son, Who help around the shop and go to cars shows with Joel. As far as paperwork goes.. all I have is a copy of the Build sheet & Window sicker that I was able to get from the corvette museuem.. I never had intentions of selling the car.. So sending money to joel to obtain paperwork was not a high priority for me.. It was always when tax money comes or have some extra money. Then we will get paperwork.. My priorty was getting the car to look and perform well. Any other help I can be please ask ---------------------------------------------------------- Interesting! Very Interesting!!!! ???? Not sure how Baldwin came into play on this car. Sounds like a wana-be to me. I yield the floor to others now... Pantera 81 Baldwin Motion Vette ![]()

Larry,
I saw this car on the web last night and first thought the same thing you did, no way - no how, but it very well could be a legit car. All you have to do is ask for a picture of the window sticker and that will solve the Baldwin or not Motion conversion. The car is interesting. My biggest concern is that burn on the fiberglass. You can see it went right through the enamel paint and melted the glass bad. According to the NCRS/Bloomington 1981 Corvettes had the worse paint based on availble technology out of any year Corvette. The body/paint to start with was not good either. If real, could be a neat car to tool around in.

Well to start at the most important part of the whole thing is the fact that Baldwin Chev went out of business in 1973-4 era.
So no way could it be a Baldwin Corvette. The paint on the car is stock Vette in '81. I don't see anything about the car that makes it a Motion conversion either. Or perhaps the Holly and special valve covers make it one. ![]() Seems like a nice guy that just doesn't know the real story. Did Joel have a Son??? News to me? Pantera

Alot of people use the Baldwin Motion description--Just like PhaseIII on the surface---Joel was doing this kind of mod work in the '80s--using the 350 engine ---He does have a son and daughter--they both worked around the shop now and again-----You'd have to get up close to this car --Could be legit---

Joel does have a son that is still living in the NY area and I believe he builds engines. As Joe G said, he also has a daughter.

Motion cars of 1981 were nothing like or compaired to Motion cars of 1968-1970..

I kinda thought Lillard's 1980 Motion car was a throwback to the older cars...

Boy I would hate to get up next to this one..Might get something on me.
![]() The owner seems really nice and sincere, but = Again I say I just don't see anything that could be attribuited to Motion just by looking at it on this car. It looks like most any other 81 vettes out there. Just because it has a dual line carb on a high rise doesn't make it a Motion. Now if he just had some documation then that would be different. I wonder if the two tone paint makes him think it is a Motion car? That was a factory option in '81 and nothing special. They were all L-48 motors in '81. 1980 was the last year for the L-82 sm block. Pantera
