Default Posting scnned photos

When I scan a photo I have to make it so small in order to meet the file requirements. What am I doing wrong? See the picture under day 2 55's. That seemed to be as large as I could make it and still post! I finally figured out the posting of pictures from the digital but am having trouble with scanned pictures. There are basically two ways to change the file size. One is to shrink the dimensions of the photo, the other is to change the compression factor. When you save a JPEG file, you are usually asked which compression factor, from 0-100, you wish to use. 0 will give you a very small file with very crappy quality, 100 will give you a huge file with wonderful quality. The better photo handling programs, like Photoshop, let you preview the results of different compression factors before you save the file. I would recommend between 20-50 as a JPEG compression factor, use the highest number that gives you the desired file size while not compromising quality too much. PM me for more info.

Most software that can save a jpg file has an option to set the compression amount of the file. Sometimes this looks like a slider with picture quality settings from 1 to 10. Try a setting of five. If you use Microsoft photo editor, which is free with MS Office, you would click on save as, then pick JPG from the file types, then click on the more button. That lets you adjust the quality. If this does not help, let me know what software you are using, and I will see if I can get better directions for you.

Both of those gentlemen gave you some good advice. I'm in the middle of addressing this issue, and a couple of other similar topics, like login problems, attaching files/images, etc. Hopefully in the next day or so I will have them up. Thanks for pitching in, Don & Denis!
