Default Board upgrade...hopefully!

As I eluded to in the "smilies" thread, I've been planning to upgrade the board's software for some time now. The look and feel will be the same, but there should be some more "extras" added and a few bugs taken care of. Custom graemlins (smilies) is one of the features that might interest some of you!

Now, with that said, here's the reason for the post. I've got to "dump" (backup) the database before I can do the upgrades, and to do so, I will probably close the board for a brief time. I'm backing it up just in case the upgrade times out, or I miss a step, or something else bad happens, in which EVERYTHING would be lost. It shouldn't be shut down for any great length of time, and I'm gonna try and do it either WAY late at night, or WAY early in the morning, so as not to disturb any of the activity here, but if you show up and get the "board closed" message, don't be alarmed! Just check back in a little while and hopefully everything will be back to normal.

No kidding...both boys spent time at my in-laws yesterday, and they let them BOTH take naps. So, they were both going strong at 2am, and they finally settled down and went to sleep at 4:45am...only problem was that I got up at 5:30am! I think they are trying to kill me via sleep deprivation! In fact, I believe I overheard them whispering something about the Camaro and Chevelle...

Hey Rob...did I miss something, or is the "hit counter" on the front page going backwards now?

Ha! I'm glad you said that! I just checked it out, and I guess when I fixed the links page this afternoon, it overwrote the new counter with the old. So, anyone remember "aproximately" where we were? I remember seeing over 420,000 but that's about it.

I believe it was in the HIGH 423's last evening. For a minute there, I thought Belair was trying to hit 409409 again.

I went ahead and reset it to 425,000 which should be fairly close.

Ok, it looks like this upgrade will have to wait until next week. Dad is headed to Illinois tomorrow to attend Dennis' funeral, so I will be running the show here for a couple of days...and naturally, we have gotten busy. Then, as soon as he returns, I'm off to Atlanta to the NBA All-Star weekend. So, I'm gonna get my fantasy basketball team straightened out for next week in the early a.m., and from then on my computer time will probably be "limited".

My target completion date is this time next week...
