I have been having a discussion about a 1968 Camaro I bought new, It was a 396-375 HP and came with the 140 speedo, I assumed all 375HP cars had this? But it seems some did not? Does anyone have any insight on this?

I don't believe any L-78 did with that RPO alone EXCEPT the 9737 COPO cars.It would/should also have the 13/16 front sway bar.Did you order this car?

No, I bought the car off the lot at Kenny Ross Chevrolet in Pittsburgh. There were several there with the same options. Mine was a Corvette Bronze. There was also a Daytona Yellow, Rally Green and a Lemans blue. They were all exactly the same, none had the bright trim on fenders, but had trim on the drip rails. All had 3.73 rears and m-21s. I can't remember size of sway bar. None had rally wheels, all had rims with dog dish hub caps.

Wasn't the 140 speedo only available only in 1969?

I know the 68 Yenkos had the 140? But it seems to get a little gray on what other camaros had this option. I remember coming down the Aliquippa Boulevard at just about the 140 mph! the car only had about 30 miles on it at the time. The car is still in Aliquippa, I sold it to a fellow there in 1971 and he still has it. ther is less than 4000 miles on the car! But I sold the original motor and bought an L-88 in the crate at Yenko and installed it in 1969, trans was blown and I think I even put a different rear end in it. But the speedo is still in the car. I had a discussion with Chuck Huber in 1991 when he was doing his 68 Yenko, he thought the 140 only came in the Yenko cars so I went down and checked to make sure. The 140 speedo is still in the car!

I'll bet its a dealer trade. Yenko did not sell all the cars converted. 396 cars with COPO 9737 have been found in Pittsburgh. Just an idea. I know about this car..BKH

Is the POP still around? It would be interesting to see what the engine code is. Also would be interesting to see how the VIN sequence compares to the '68 Yenkos.
