Default 14 x 7

I always keep my eyes open for the 14 x 7 XT wheels. Every now and then I find some 14x7 wheels marked "IF". Any idea what cars these came on?

I believe they are from Firebirds. They are identical to the XT wheels best I can tell.

Years ago I had a very orig. 69 SS 396 that I bought from an old Couple. It had Simulated Mag Wheel covers. It had 2 IF and 3 XT wheels on it.

Charley, your old 69 L-78 ragtop Camaro that now sits in my garage has both XT and IF wheels. The buildsheet code for the wheels says "XT". A Pontiac enthusisast once told me the "IF" wheels were from Firebirds, but they sure seem identical. Perhaps both types were used on Chevrolet as well? Not sure why they would have a different code.

My 70 W-31 uses the 14 x 7 *XT* wheels also. I believe that they were used on all GM platforms that used the 14 x 7 steel wheel in a performance application.

That's interesting, so who knows the difference between the "IF" and "XT" wheels other than two letters. They sure look the same to me.

I'm pretty sure the offset is a hair different, but I'll have to look again. Are you saying that these rims could be termed as correct?

The IF wheels are nearly identical to the XT's but you can tell easily by looking at the wheel center. The vents on the centers of the XT's have corners that curve more sharply to the edges. The IF's vents are more rounded and almost fade into the wheel rim.
I have some of each in my basement and just looked at them. They were also made by a different manufacturer than Kelsey Hayes.
