Default Dewalt 18v battery replacement

Picked up a really nice DeWalt cordless impact gun for virtually free. Came with some other stuff I bought. Only one battery. At first it held a charge for maybe 20 minutes. Now won't charge. I know the gun works well; so would like to buy a pair of batteries. 18v XRP model DC9096.

Anyone with personal experience purchasing replacement batteries for something like this? Prices are all over the place, and I am guessing quality is as well.

I have really only had good luck with OEM replacement batteries on my 12v and 18v stuff. The generic replacements have disappointed.

Bring your Dewalt batteries in during real cold weather. Keep em charged just like you maintain a boat- mower - MC or any other battery. Freezing cold will ruin them.
I run them completely down once in awhile also.

The last 2 "real" Dewalt 18v batteries I bought are horrible. No where near the strength of my originals and do not last very long.

Dewalt makes an adapter to use a 20 volt in your 18 volt tools. I just bought one from Home Depot online forr $42 delivered to your local store. Works grear!
