I have had this LS6 in the classifieds and the only real knock is a dealer added stripes over the orig. black paint to make it more sellable. I can get the stripes removed and the correct black lacquer spotted in to where it will even paint gauge correctly. Cost would be in the 2500.00 range. Do I do it ?

I'd say do it. Wasn't it Mark Young who decided to add the stripes?

Let the buyer decide what to do. Why go through the hassle?

I'd leave it up to the next owner and I don't think that is the reason it's still sitting. Anyone buying the car at the price offered can obviously negotiate the cost to remove the stripes if that's an issue. Having that option available to the buyer is enough in my mind.

----Although I like some of the 70 SS's without stripes, the stripes are kind of iconic. On this 70 I think I would echo the keep the stripes group!.....Bill S

I’d leave it as is, Charley. There was a red 63 ZO6 Corvette at Mecum that had a big white stripe down the entire car. I always thought the stripe should be removed, but when I saw it 10 days ago I realized it looked great and wouldn’t remove it.

I prefer the stripes. It's just iconic like mentioned above. Having one without is like paying for a prostitute without....well you can fill in the blank
![]() Mine also came originally without stripes on Carolina Blue, when I repainted the car last fall, it got stripes. Let the next owner decide. ![]() |

Let me bring it home, drive it this summer and as I go to various cruises I’ll see what choice the masses would make and then I’ll report back! Deal?!

My opinion is to correct the car by removing the stripes. It is a survivor and should be returned to as close as original as possible.
