I posted another reply on Team Camaro. I didn't cut much of my floor. Picture is when I had the Ramrod in it, but the hole size is the same.

If the handle is interchangeable, and you use the correct handle, I don't believe any cutting is necessary. It is the Vertigate that requires major floor surgery.
Some one correct me if I am wrong.

The Super Shifter sits high and to the left just like the Ramrod. It requires a larger hole in the floor.

Thanks for correcting.
You can't put in an offset handle?

I seem to remember the SS3 having straight rods, which requires the shifter body to be in a very different position than the stocker.

Yes, the Super Shifter mounts the whole shifter body higher and to the left, so the hole has to be cut out larger for the body and rods to fit. It doesn't matter what handle you put on it because the shifter body is what requires the larger hole. If I get a chance later today I'll post pictures of the mounting bracket for the competition plus and the super shifter so that you can see how much the shifter body is moved.

Here is one of my Super Shifters mounted on my new AutoGear N24. You can see that the shifter is mounted much higher and a little to the left.

I put a Hurst Super Shifter in a 1970 Nova and did not remove any metal.
I had to cut and bend and fold metal but did not remove any so it can be put back with some seam welding |
